Please join us for their public lecture in the Strozier Scholars Commons on February 28th from 12-1:30pm. Haviland and Colagiovanni will be working with SCAP at FAR for three weeks on the creation of a 25 foot long artist book, "Music for Teacups", which includes a 7 inch EP. Upcoming and recent releases include a 12 inch LP for the "Dinner Music" project and "Coupling" a compilation CD and Book based on the work of Stan Brakhage from Silent Media.

Katie Baldwin: December 15-21, 2011

Lake & Cloud is a collaborative artists book project between Katie Baldwin and Denise Bookwalter. In contrast to other projects underway at SCAP, the artists worked together for a month at Vermont Studio Center during a residency to plan their collaborative work. While they were planning Lake & Cloud they also worked on parallel series of individual works that investigated the original idea of Lake & Cloud. This artist book uses a pair of parachutes and an operation manual to transform space. In manipulating the object, the viewer is engaged in the process of “reading” the book. The project illustrates the poetic and organic collaborative process from inception to object. Baldwin will travel to SCAP for the next step in the collaboration of Lake & Cloud on December 15-21st.

Bea Nettles: March 14-18, 2011

SCAP is honored to announce Bea Nettles, a pioneer in photographic techniques and book arts, as our first visiting artist of Spring 2011. Nettles' work examines issues of family relationships, woven together with mythology and natural history in a dream-like nature. Bea will be working on a collaborative book with Florida artists Robert Fichter and Denise Bookwalter during March 14-18. This interactive letterpress book, entitled Oranges, will celebrate Florida's own through each artist's unique vision.

Nettles will be giving an artist talk on March 16, 2011 at 4:00pm in the Strozier Library Scholars Commons at FSU. We also invite you to meet Bea, experience this project first hand, and learn more about the press at our open house on March 18, 2011 from 10:00am-12:00pm at SCAP. beanettles.com

Spring has sprung at the press with an exciting March planned! Marius Watz, our second visiting artist for Spring 2011, will be working with SCAP and the formLab (SCAP's sister facility) during March 21-25.
